Laboratory Analyst - Environmental Microbiology & Asbestos Testing
Commerce Township, MI | Full-Time | Onsite | $14-$40/hr
A well-established environmental testing laboratory in the Commerce Township area is seeking a full-time Laboratory Analyst to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, motivated, and interested in hands-on microscopy and analytical work.
Responsibilities
•Prepare and analyze mold, fungal, and microbiological samples using optical microscopy
•Train and assist with asbestos analysis (PLM/PCM)
•Review and evaluate materials based on fiber characteristics, optical properties, and visual percentages
•Perform data entry, sample review, equipment maintenance, and calibration
•Follow established QA/QC procedures
•Maintain accurate records and support turnaround time expectations
•Contribute to a clean, organized lab environment
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Life Science, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
•Ability to distinguish colors accurately
•Strong communication skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
•Team-player mindset with the ability to work independently
•Willingness to work extra hours or occasional weekends
•Preferred: Experience in mold identification or asbestos testing (PLM/PCM)
•Local candidates preferred
Schedule
•Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
•Onsite only
Compensation & Benefits
•$14.00-$40.00 per hour
