Yard Waste Facility Attendant
The Village of DeForest has an immediate opening for a part-time seasonal position in the Public Works Department. This position will work at the Yard Waste Facility starting in April and continuing through November. The work hours are Monday 5-7 pm, alternating Tuesdays from 5:00 7:00 PM, Thursday 5-7 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 AM 12:00 PM from April through November.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Enforces yard waste site rules
- Directs traffic to the compost and brush bins. Encourage patience during peak use times
- Performs spot-checks of Village residency
- Administers firewood pick up, and returns used firewood permit forms to Village Hall
- Performs clean-up duties at yard waste site, such as blowing or raking leaves or other compost to the back of the bin, picking up sticks, etc.
- Answering resident questions
Requirements of Work:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to demonstrate safe work practices
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds above shoulder height
- Ability to interact with the public in a positive and courteous manner
- Must be self-motivated and responsible
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Must be at least eighteen years of age
- Ability and willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
