Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is located on the serene island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands and is a family-owned and managed beach resort nestled in a beautiful sandy bay along the Caribbean Sea. The goal of the Beach & Activities Coordinator is to create and maintain a safe, fun, clean, well maintained and approachable beach atmosphere with a professional and friendly attitude. Deliver a product that increases the guest experience level daily. Produce a casual and extremely fun all-inclusive beach experience that exceeds guests’ expectations. Lead, manage, and schedule a staff of up to six. Coordinate with management to ensure that all functions are performed satisfactorily. Complete staff performance reviews.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all swimmers and guests using the beach resort facilities
  • Assign pool cleaning duties when required by pool maintenance
  • Being in the water both with guests and for maintenance is an essential part of the job
  • Maintain beach chairs so that they are usable, clean, and presented professionally.
  • Keep the beach office clean and organized. Maintain all security features.
  • Coordinate with the laundry department, ensuring that beach towels are stocked and returned.
  • Maintain and clean all footbaths on the property
  • Ensure that all beach equipment is well maintained and works properly.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department when in need of replacements and new parts and equipment. Create and discuss purchase requests with the general manager.
  • Ensure that CPR Certifications are up to date.
  • Maintain an accurate log of daily beach activities using the beach equipment rental form
  • Check the beach for non-guests and collect payment for beach chairs
  • Inspect the rescue vehicle daily, weekly, and monthly. Maintain as needed.
  • Train new staff in daily activities and rescue procedures.
  • Ensure all Beach staff maintain proper uniform.
  • Maintain first aid Kit
  • Assist gift shop staff with poolside activities.
  • Rake seaweed from the beach every morning
  • Coordinate with landscaping to clear the beach of seaweed and debris.
  • Rake the beach near the wedding arch for all scheduled wedding events and as requested by event coordinators.
  • Turn in keys and beach equipment rental form to the front desk at the end of the day
  • Maintain an active inventory of all beach equipment i.e. toys, chairs, floats, etc.
  • Use time clock managing and scheduling systems to ensure that employees are working scheduled hours.
  • Complete bi-weekly payroll and submit to accounting.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to know how to swim and don’t mind getting into the water
  • First/Aid CPR Certification
  • Must have a passion for conducting water activities
  • Understanding safety guidelines and regulations for guests
