We are seeking a full-time Senior Buyer in our West Bridgewater, MA location. The individual in this role will be responsible for driving procurement and distribution of raw materials, machinery, equipment and accessories and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies) as required by the organization. This individual will drive supply chain activities for established critical customers for which products are in commercial production, as well as new customers with development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Receive and process requisitions for goods and services to be purchased
- Receive and process purchase order confirmations, order amendments, shipping notices and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records as required by Supply Chain Department
- Manage the planning, ordering and delivery of goods and services to ensure on-time delivery
- Expedite open orders as needed from start to finish, making sure to obtain tracking information and alert Receiving and Quality departments to incoming material to ensure timely processing and inspection of goods
- Ensure that goods are shipped to the proper location for each project and assist in distribution as needed
- Demonstrate leadership amongst the team and cross train new employees
- Drive negotiations on cost reduction opportunities for components and equipment
- Drive inventory management for critical production lines to ensure safety stock is maintained while minimizing excess stock
- Lead risk mitigation conversations with critical stakeholders on key accounts
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs and align purchasing strategy
- Stay informed on market and commodity trends, tariffs, and import constraints to guide purchasing strategy
- Create and manage relationship with critical suppliers, including but not limited to, participating in QBRs (quarterly business reviews)
- Travel to critical suppliers when appropriate
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, Supply Chain or related field
- Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Must possess negotiating and analytical skills with a proven track record for continuous improvement
- Ability to work in an organized fashion, multi-tasking and prioritizing projects and tasks as needed
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of manufacturing requirements and ability to assess supplier capabilities that fit the Company’s business needs
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), Master Production Schedule (MPS), or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) supply chain processes
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree Business Administration, Management, Operations, Supply Chain or related field
- 8+ years experience in medical device manufacturing or purchasing
- Previous Epicor experience preferred, ERP experience required
