Role Summary:

As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, you play an essential part in maintaining the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that products reach customers on time and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and fostering strong relationships with clients.

The CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, intrastate, and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drop-and-drive deliveries. This role involves delivering and unloading food and related products safely and punctually, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Teamwork is essential, and you will perform various duties as needed to support the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all necessary safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip) and inspect the vehicle and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations, ensuring they meet safety standards and reporting any issues.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
  • Promptly report any safety hazards and verify that freight is properly loaded and secured.
  • Perform item counts and verify customer invoices for loaded products, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and legibly.
  • Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as required.
  • Deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route, unloading products into designated storage areas.
  • Check for damages, scan items, and communicate with supervisors regarding order removals as per company policy. Confirm deliveries with customers and obtain necessary signatures, collecting payments when required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure the trailer doors, ensuring all equipment is locked and secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and returns, completing necessary paperwork and clearing out trailers as needed.
  • Maintain daily logs of service hours in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, ensuring trailers are kept clean and organized. Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at the end of each shift.
  • Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 6+ months or 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A license; must be at least 21 years old.
  • Comply with all state licensing and certification requirements (if applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
  • Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Successfully complete a road test.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid DOT Health Card.
  • Capable of lifting and using equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights, typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds, depending on the location.
