Job Title: Lead Radiation Therapist

Location: ATAMMC, 9300 Dewitt Loop, Fort Belvoir VA 22060

Work Schedule: Monday–Sunday, 8Hrs Shift, 40-hour work week / 5 day a week schedule between the hours of 0600 to 1900.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy Technologist program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiation Therapy and approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist. At least 3 of those years must have occurred within the last 5 years. Must have experience in delivering or supervising Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
  • License/Certification: Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy [RT(T)] in any U.S. state or territory and certification from the appropriate. BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen

Responsibilities

  • Provide Perform IMRT, 3D conformal therapy, CT simulations, and anesthesia-supported treatments.
  • Supervise and train Radiation Therapists; manage daily treatment schedules and workflow.
  • Conduct daily QA on linear accelerators and simulators; ensure equipment is safe and operational.
  • Communicate with physicians, physicists, and therapists to ensure accurate and safe treatment delivery.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols (e.g., AR 40-14), wear dosimeters, and enforce patient safety standards.
  • Record treatments in ARIA/MHS Genesis and apply correct simulation/treatment billing codes.
  • Monitor patients for side effects or emergencies and act promptly when issues arise.
  • Participate in continuing education (12+ CEUs annually), QA reviews, and Joint Commission compliance.
