Title: Patient Care Technician
Location: Brooklyn NY- 11213
Shift: Night and Evening Shift needed Weekends only Shift needed.
Duration: 13 Weeks
Pay Range $25/hr on W2
Job duties:
· Provides direct patient care and related support with caring and compassion. Performs other related duties
· Provides Routine Personal Care to Patients in A Timely, Safe and Effective Manner. Care May Include Bathing, Brushing Teeth, Dressing Patients and Attending to All of Their Personal Care Needs
· Prepares Patients for Meals, Feeds, And/or Assists with Feeding as Necessary
· Empties Bedpans and Collects Urine and Other Specimens
· Transfers Patients to And from Bed And/or Chair Via One-Person Transfer, Two-Person Transfer, And Use of a Hoyer Lift
· Takes Accurate Vital Signs Temperatures, Blood Pressures, Pulse, And Respiration
· Records All Necessary Information According to Policy and Procedure
· Assists Patients in Walking and In Transporting Patients by Means of Wheelchair or Stretcher
· Performs ROM Using Proper Technique
· For point of care testing, checks the manufacturer's expiration dates of reagent strips prior to performing quality assurance testing of glucometers.
Skills:
· Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort.
· Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend, and stretch
· Ability to read, write and interpret documents
· Ability to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functions
· Ability to stand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/or procedural areas
· Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers
· May be exposed to mechanical/electrical/radiant/explosive/burn and chemical hazards.
· May be required to handle, dispose of and/or identify hazardous waste and hazardous materials
· May be required to operate and clean equipment
· May be required to work both indoor/outdoor under extreme temperatures.
· May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances
· May be required to handle/ assist in lifting patients onto/out of exam beds/procedure stations
· May be required to operate heavy vehicles
· Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work

· Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
· Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but potential for exposure.

Education:
· Certificate from an approved Patient Care Technician (PCT) program with EKG and phlebotomy skills required
· Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or equivalent certification required
· Able to read and perform intermediate math and reading computations
· High School Graduate or GED required
· Experience working in Psychiatry for all shift needed
