Completion of a Company Background Investigation, being a US Citizen, and a security clearance is required for this position.
• Perform engineering, design and development of shipbuilding specifications, drawings, acquisition and SLEP program documents for the US Coast Guard Boat Acquisition Program at USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC.
• Conduct/technical evaluations of structural analysis and load calculations to ensure the sound design and compliance with industry and Government design criteria.
• Evaluate weight implications of planned engineering changes in support of boat acquisition and SLEP programs.
• Perform hydrostatic calculations and assessments (weight estimates and stability assessments).
• Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification Requirements:
• Shall have a BS in Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineer; strong preference given to candidates with a related masters degree.
• Degrees in Ocean, Civil and Mechanical may be accepted with demonstrated minimum of two-years, experience with marine structures.
Requirements:
• Shall have 3 plus years demonstrated experience with vessel design, construction, and repair with primary focus on marine engineering/naval architecture. Experience in the design of high speed planning craft is highly desirable.
• Shall have at least 2 years of experience with structure calculations for ships or other waterborne structures.
• Qualified candidates shall have experience performing detailed design and analysis of marine structures outside of an academic setting.
• Contingencies: Resume approval by Client, US citizenship and ability to obtain an interim secret clearance.
