Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is sought for a rewarding position supporting students and staff in a school setting. This role requires providing clear, accurate interpretation services to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals within an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication and learning outcomes
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet diverse student needs

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language with certified interpreting credentials preferred
  • Experience working in educational settings, especially with children and young adults who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
  • Strong understanding of educational terminology and classroom environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed to various school locations

Location: Richmond Hill, GA, with travel responsibilities within the district as required.
