About the Role:

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in primary care plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to diverse patient populations. This position focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic illnesses while emphasizing preventive care and patient education. The role requires collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care. The successful candidate will provide care across various settings including emergency medicine, urgent care, family medicine, pediatrics, and critical care, adapting to the unique needs of each patient. Ultimately, this position aims to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, compassionate care, and continuous health promotion.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the practicing state.
  • Certification from an accredited PA or NP program with national board certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in primary care, emergency medicine, or urgent care settings.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is encouraged.
  • Strong knowledge of family medicine, pediatrics, minor sutures, urgent care, and basic trauma management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare teams within hospital or outpatient clinic environments.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in chronic disease management experience in clinical settings.
  • Preferred any Advanced training in specialty like Diabetics, wound care, orthopedics, addiction medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing to identify health conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic illnesses in primary care and urgent care settings.
  • Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, medication management, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care, including referrals to specialists and follow-up care.
  • Respond to emergency and trauma situations by delivering timely and effective interventions within the scope of practice.

The required skills such as urgent care, family medicine are essential for providing comprehensive and timely patient care across a variety of clinical scenarios. Patient education skills enable the practitioner to effectively communicate complex medical information, empowering patients to participate actively in their health management. Proficiency in minor suturing, wound care, chronic care and basic trauma ensures readiness to handle acute and life-threatening conditions with confidence and precision. These skills are applied daily to assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize outcomes. Preferred skills like familiarity with EHR systems and telemedicine enhance efficiency and accessibility of care, while collaboration with leadership team and abilities contribute to a supportive and high-functioning clinical environment.
