Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller/Director of Finance to lead our financial operations and reporting functions. This role is perfect for a finance professional with strong public accounting background who is ready to transition into a leadership role within a dynamic, growth-focused organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Work closely with CFO on Monthly, Quarterly and Annual financial close (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Budgets)
  • Work with PEO and Payroll provider and People Operations to manage and complete payroll.

Operational Finance

  • Manage and optimize payroll processing, including multi-state compliance and equity compensation
  • Lead month-end and quarter-end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures

Strategic Finance

  • Work with CFO and Leadership Team
  • Help with Buy Boards, Certifications and Other Contractual obligations.
  • Work with CFO and COO on Banking Relationship which includes (Line of Credit, Credit Cards) and help maintain outside vendor relationships.
  • Work with CFO on Annual Audit and Tax Filings.
  • Work with CFO and COO on third party vendors and contracts.

Required Qualifications

Experience & Background

  • 5-10 years of progressive finance experience with significant public accounting background
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Strong experience with audit and tax compliance in public accounting environment
  • Proven track record managing month-end close, payroll, and financial reporting processes

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Expert-level Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
  • Experience with financial reporting and consolidation tools
  • Knowledge of equity compensation, revenue recognition, and complex accounting standards

Preferred Qualifications

Industry Experience (HUGE bonus points)

  • Previous experience in startup or high-growth technology companies
  • Software/SaaS industry background

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience with financial systems implementations
  • Knowledge of international accounting and tax considerations
  • Background in M&A transactions or due diligence processes
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus
  • Migration to a larger ERP for Accounting and Inventory platform
