Geologist

Salary: $125,000 – $150,000

Location: Midland, TX (Onsite)

Our client, a respected leader in the oil and gas industry, is seeking a Geologist to join their Midland, Texas team. In this pivotal role, you will generate ideas and conduct technical analyses to drive regional growth. You’ll play an integral part in planning and implementing horizontal exploration and development programs, working closely with geoscientists, geosteering specialists, engineers, drillers, and field staff to ensure safe, efficient, and successful well execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regional geological risk and resource analyses across a variety of play types.
  • Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and production data to identify and evaluate opportunities.
  • Create and communicate resource potential through maps, cross sections, and other geological work products.
  • Collaborate with reservoir engineers to assess the economic viability of prospects.
  • Assist in well planning and provide guidance to geosteering teams to ensure optimal well placement.
  • Work effectively both independently and in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.


Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Geologist in the upstream O&G industry.
  • Proven background in unconventional resource plays (US Basin experience)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Skilled with mapping and geological software such as Petra, GeoGraphix, and/or SMT Kingdom.
  • Solid understanding of well logs, petrophysics, and geological interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to produce clear, professional geological outputs.


Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in geology or geophysics is required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.


Work Environment

  • This is a full-time, onsite position based in Midland, TX.
  • Work performed primarily in an office environment with occasional field visits.
  • Field visits require compliance with strict safety standards (OSHA/DOT) and appropriate PPE use.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30%
