We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Safety to join our dynamic team. This is a crucial role that will oversee all aspects of safety and health in our construction operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. This position requires a deep understanding of construction safety, mechanical systems, HVAC, and a strong familiarity with safety certifications like CSP and CHST, as well as OSHA 500. With 7+ years of experience in the field, you will be instrumental in promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and manage the company’s safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA 500.
2. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and investigations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
3. Train and educate employees on safety protocols and accident prevention.
4. Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure the safety of all construction sites.
5. Review and update safety policies and procedures to mitigate risks.
6. Oversee the maintenance and inspection of equipment and machinery to ensure they meet safety standards.
7. Lead incident investigations and develop reports outlining findings and recommendations.
8. Foster a safety culture within the organization through effective communication and training.
9. Stay current with all applicable safety legislation and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree will be considered an asset.
2. Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a safety leadership role within the construction industry.
3. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certifications, and OSHA 500 are preferred.
4. Extensive knowledge of construction safety, mechanical systems, and HVAC.
5. Solid understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulations and OSHA regulations.
6. Proven ability to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
7. Excellent communication, leadership, and training skills.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
9. Proficient in using safety management software and technology.
10. Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety within an organization.
