Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A skilled Registered Nurse is needed to support the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team at a well-established acute care hospital located in Shawnee, KS. This 300-bed facility offers a dynamic environment dedicated to high-quality patient care and professional development. This contract role provides the opportunity to work 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the PCU, managing critical and complex conditions.
- Utilize advanced skills including CRRT management, Bipap support, chest tube care, PICC line maintenance, and independent lab draws.
- Respond to emergency situations including conducting code blue events comfortably and competently.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team by managing consults independently.
- Float as needed across multiple inpatient units, including ICU, Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and Emergency Department based on prior experience.
- Participate every other weekend to ensure continuous patient care coverage.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Critical Care or Intensive Care Units.
- Current Kansas or Compact RN License with BLS, ACLS, and NIH certification.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, particularly EPIC, is essential.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
