Title: Commercial Loan Underwriter
Type of role: Direct-hire/Full-time (On-site)
Location: Tampa, Fla.
Compensation: $75K – 115K base salary (Based on relevant experience)
Position Summary
The commercial property underwriting assistant will provide comprehensive underwriting support throughout the full policy lifecycle, from initial submission review to policy issuance and post-bind servicing. Review and analyze underwriting documentation to assess risk, support quote and policy preparation, and ensure accurate, compliant recordkeeping. Manage multiple workflows and underwriting systems while collaborating closely with underwriters, internal teams, and external partners. Assists with special projects to support efficient underwriting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical support to underwriters on end-to-end underwriting processes, from initial submission review through policy issuance and post-bind activities
- Examine documents such as application forms, inspection reports, insurance maps and past claims to determine degree of risk
- Operate and maintain proficiency in various underwriting systems
- Manage multiple workflows and maintain visibility into task status and deadlines
- Assist in creating quotes, binders, certificates, and endorsements
- Ensure all documentation is properly filed and compliant with audit standards
- Review policies and discuss changes with underwriters
- Collaborates and corresponds with internal and external contacts
- Monitor account receivables and assist the accounting team with reconciliation
- Contribute to special projects and assignments as needed
Qualifications
- Knowledge of commercial property
- 1-3 years of commercial underwriting experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing processes
