Peru Public Library District is seeking applications for our full-time Youth Services Manager position. We have an active, engaged and responsive family population. Examples of previous successful programs include: Thursday Tots, Books and Babies, Bingo for Books, Brick Builder’s Club, Chalk the Walk, Summer Reading Club, Take & Make Kits, and many more.
Examples of work:
Orders, catalogs and processes material for the youth collection
Develops and provides interactive library programs for youth ages birth to 12, including storytelling, literacy activities, school visits, book discussions, information literacy instruction and other programs as community needs dictate
Acts as liaison with other agencies serving youth and their caregivers
Works with Co-Directors to manage and advertise programming on library’s Facebook page
Communicates with parents, staff, and the local school district through various methods
Creates publicity for events and programs
Sets up, takes down and cleans up after programs
This position works a 40-hour week scheduled during days, evenings and occasionally weekends. It also works the circulation desk, executes programming and has continuous interaction with all patrons, but specifically children, parents and caregivers.
Requirements:
Comfortable using technology for communication
Working knowledge of Microsoft products
LTA
Able to lift 40 pounds
Valid driver’s license
Preferred/Desired:
LTA or Master’s degree in Library Science
Experience with programming for children and families
Knowledge of youth literature and materials, social media and technological trends
Cataloging skills
