Your Mission: This position is responsible to ensure the accuracy, quality, accessibility and security of all residents' personal health information (PHI) and adhere to all medical, legal and ethical regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develops, reviews and revises policies and Procedures related to the confidentiality and security of resident health information (PHI)
- Collect confidential resident information which includes medical history, diagnoses, prescriptions, treatment plans, test results and disease symptoms.
- Maintain resident confidentiality through HIPAA compliance.
- Assigns diagnosis codes to the medical record to support reason for admission and medical billing.
- Tracks referral sources and payors
- Regularly audit resident records for regulatory compliance and completeness.
- Responsible for scanning and uploading resident information in to the electronic health record (EHR)
- Responsible for ensuring daily census is complete and accurate
- Responsible for obtaining physician's signature from hospice providers and other service providers as needed
- Develops, reviews and revises policies and procedures related to the confidentiality and security of PHI
- Responsible for budget compliance for Medical Records department expenses
- Ensures coverage for reception areas during business hours
- Monitors records for History and Physicals, TB tests, therapy and doctor visits for all inpatient Residents.
- Participates in developing annual goals for department that support the goals and objectives of the Community
- Is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, managing, evaluating, and termination of receptionists/unit secretary.
- Ensures orientation to community campus and Medical Records department for all new receptionist/unit secretary.
- Provides excellent customer service, consistently demonstrating Sun Health Mission and Values.
Your Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong Computer competency.
- Must be able to type and file accurately, numerically as well as alphabetically.
- Completion of Medical Technician training and/or one-year experience managing a Medical Records department.
- Possess current or ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
