Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers an opportunity to work as a Special Education Teacher in a K-12 school located in Washington, DC. The role focuses on supporting students within a bilingual Latin American school environment, with a preference for candidates fluent in Spanish. The contract runs for the current school year, beginning as soon as possible and ending at the end of the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized special education instruction tailored to students unique needs in grades K-12
- Collaborate with bilingual staff to support a culturally rich and inclusive learning environment
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to maximize learning outcomes
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and maintain documentation according to district guidelines
- Coordinate with paraprofessionals or other support staff as provided by the school district
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in special education settings K-12
- Spanish bilingual skills highly preferred to support the schools community
- Special Education certification is preferred but not mandatory
- Flexible availability for full or part-time schedules between 8:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a diverse school environment
