Job Description
This role focuses on building, wiring, and upgrading electrical control panels and harnesses using detailed wiring documents, schematics, and bills of materials. You will assemble and lay out panels, perform precise point-to-point wiring, and ensure all connections meet specifications. The position requires a highly skilled professional who can be productive from day one, working with minimal supervision while supporting control system implementations and panel upgrades in a clean, well-organized environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and lay out electrical control panels and harnesses based on wiring documents, layouts, and bills of materials.
- Wire electrical control panels to match electrical drawings and schematics exactly, maintaining neat, orderly, and consistent wiring practices.
- Perform point-to-point wiring and verify all connections against wiring diagrams and wire schematics.
- Identify and organize all associated parts, assemblies, and wiring components required for panel building.
- Use hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, ferrule crimpers, screwdrivers, nut drivers, and cutters to complete wiring and assembly tasks.
- Operate a cordless drill to drill and tap holes in cabinets and subpanels as required for panel layout and assembly.
- Read and interpret tape measurements accurately and make calculated dimensions as needed for panel layouts and component placement.
- Lay out cabinets and subpanels, including drilling, tapping, and assembling components according to design specifications.
- Ensure all electrical connections are tight and torqued to specified values to maintain reliability and safety.
- Build and wire electrical control panels from layouts, schematics, and bills of materials with minimal supervision.
- Perform PLC-related troubleshooting and support panel upgrades as needed to improve or modify existing control systems.
- Follow established quality, safety, and documentation standards while working on panel builds and electrical assemblies.
- Collaborate with team members on the shop floor to coordinate work, share knowledge, and support ongoing projects.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently within the scheduled workday while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Participate in initial training and then transition to working independently once training is complete.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to perform point-to-point wiring on electrical control panels from day one without entry-level training.
- Demonstrated experience wiring electrical control panels to match electrical drawings and schematics exactly.
- Strong ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, and wire schematics.
- Ability to build and wire electrical control panels from layouts, schematics, and bills of materials.
- Capability to lay out cabinets and subpanels, including drilling, tapping, and assembling components.
- Proficiency using hand tools such as wire strippers, cutters, crimpers, ferrule crimpers, screwdrivers, and nut drivers.
- Ability to use a cordless drill for drilling and tapping holes in panels and subpanels.
- Competence in reading a tape measure and making accurate, calculated dimensions for panel layouts.
- Attention to detail to ensure all connections are tight and torqued to specified values.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and panel upgrades.
- Background in electrical engineering or electrical control systems work (practical, hands-on experience).

- Experience in panel building within industrial or process automation environments.
- Familiarity with control system implementations and distributed control system platforms.
- Comfort working in a smaller, collaborative team environment where communication is direct and frequent.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply first-principle thinking to control applications.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to established practices and standards during the initial training period.
- Ownership of personal hand tools required for wiring, including wire strippers, cutters, crimpers, and screwdrivers.

Work Environment
The standard work schedule runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including two 20-minute breaks—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—and a one-hour lunch break. The facility offers a very clean working environment and provides approximately one month of training before you transition to working independently. The role is hands-on and shop-floor based, focused on panel building and wiring in a controlled, organized setting. This opportunity has the potential to become a long-term position, though continuation depends on project and business needs. The dress code is casual and practical, with jeans, comfortable shoes, and a T-shirt suitable for hands-on electrical and mechanical work.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
