General Description:
The Accounting Manager will support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of Reach Media. This hands-on role is responsible for core accounting functions, month-end and year-end close processes, payroll oversight, financial reporting support, banking administration, and assisting the Head of Finance with budgeting, forecasting, and finance initiatives.
This position serves as a key operational partner within the Finance department and will act as a backup to both the Head of Finance and the Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and payroll experience, demonstrate initiative, and have the ability to adapt and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
This role requires a collaborative and service-oriented professional who can build and maintain positive working relationships across departments, effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and leadership, and support operational excellence throughout the organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Manage full-cycle month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies and applicable standards
- Prepare financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations, and other management reporting support
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by providing timely and accurate financial information
- Assist with compliance requirements and preparation of supporting schedules and documentation
- Support the Head of Finance with financial analysis, reporting enhancements, and strategic finance initiatives
Payroll & Accounts Payable Support
- Serve as a backup to the Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist as needed
- Review and manage payroll data and payroll outputs to support accurate and timely payroll processing
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of payroll processes, compliance requirements, deductions, and related reporting
- Oversee accounts payable-related activities, review transactions, and process payments in accordance with company controls and approval procedures
- Support payroll and AP process improvements to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy
Banking & Systems Management
- Manage and maintain banking platforms, including payment processing, account administration, and related financial transactions
- Monitor banking activity and ensure timely reconciliation and resolution of discrepancies
- Utilize financial systems and technology tools effectively to support accounting operations and reporting
- Demonstrate strong technical aptitude and ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, employees, vendors, and external partners
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and operational teams to support efficient business processes and financial operations
- Communicate financial information clearly and professionally across varying levels of the organization
- Support a positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented work environment
Process Improvement & Operational Support
- Help maintain and strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Demonstrate initiative and flexibility by supporting additional finance and operational functions as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and close processes
- Hands-on payroll experience and understanding of payroll compliance requirements required
- Experience managing banking platforms and financial systems required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and with external stakeholders
- Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and ability to wear multiple hats within a growing organization
- Tech-savvy with strong systems aptitude and ability to quickly learn new tools and platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- CPA not required
