Job DescriptionJob Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and licensed Audiologist to provide professional audiological services in Erie County as part of a contracted engagement under a public health program. The Audiologist will conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations, provide follow-up care, and offer audiological counseling and referrals to children and adults referred through the Department of Health's programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations using age-appropriate, evidence based techniques, including:
- Pure tone air and bone conduction audiometry
- Speech audiometry
- Immittance testing (tympanometry and acoustic reflex)
- Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) testing
- Behavioral audiological assessments
- Provide audiological consultations and interpretations of results to program staff and families.
- Make recommendations for further medical or audiological follow-up, including:
- Diagnostic testing
- Hearing aid evaluations
- Referrals to ENT or other medical providers when needed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services rendered, including:
- Evaluation reports
- Recommendations
- Billing and service forms compliant with program and NYS guidelines
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including pediatricians, educators, caseworkers, and therapists as necessary.
- Attend meetings or hearings as required by the program for case discussion or service coordination.
- Ensure services are rendered at designated locations or via approved modalities (e.g., in-clinic, on-site, or home visits as permitted).
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or Doctorate in Audiology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid New York State Audiologist license.
- At least two years of clinical experience, preferably with pediatric and special populations.
- Experience with public health or educational audiology services is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse populations and team members.
- Must pass background check and provide proof of required credentials, vaccinations, and insurance if operating as an independent contractor.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with Early Intervention (EI) or Preschool Special Education programs.
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing and NYS documentation standards.
- Bilingual ability (Spanish or ASL) is a plus.
