Job Details
We are seeking a hands‑on BIM Coordinator to support MEP design, fabrication, and field coordination for commercial plumbing and HVAC projects. This role owns model quality, clash detection, and constructability workflows; translates design intent into coordinated, buildable BIM deliverables; and partners closely with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and field teams to reduce rework and accelerate installation.
Key responsibilities
Model Coordination: Manage and maintain Revit models for plumbing and HVAC systems; perform multi‑discipline coordination with structural, architectural, electrical, and other trades.
Clash Detection: Run clash detection in Navisworks or equivalent; triage and document clashes; lead coordination meetings to resolve issues and track resolutions.
Fabrication & Shop Drawings: Produce and review fabrication models and shop drawings; ensure LOD requirements are met for prefabrication and field installation.
BIM Standards and QA/QC: Enforce company BIM standards, naming conventions, and model health checks; perform model audits and maintain a model issue log.
BIM Execution Plans: Develop and maintain project BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), coordination schedules, and deliverable matrices.
Field Support: Provide model‑based support to field teams (tablet/laser layout, as‑built updates, RFI support); coordinate site verification and model updates.
Data Management: Manage model version control, file sharing (BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud or equivalent), and handover packages.
Training and Collaboration: Coach project teams on BIM workflows, tools, and best practices; facilitate coordination workshops and design reviews.
Reporting: Produce coordination reports, clash summaries, and KPI dashboards for project leadership.
Required qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of BIM coordination experience on commercial MEP projects, preferably in plumbing/HVAC or mechanical contracting.
Software proficiency: Advanced Revit (MEP), Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD; experience with BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar collaboration platforms.
Technical skills: Strong understanding of MEP systems, fabrication workflows, LOD definitions, and construction sequencing.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; proven ability to lead coordination meetings and interact with engineers, GCs, and field crews.
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field — or equivalent experience.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with prefabrication and modular MEP systems.
Familiarity with Dynamo, Revit families creation, or scripting for automation.
Certification: Autodesk Revit Certified Professional or equivalent.
