Employment Type: Part-Time/ Seasonal (June 1st-July 10th)
Position Summary
The Summer Educational Enrichment Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned academic instruction to students participating in GPCDCs Summer Educational Enrichment Program. Teachers support learning recovery, enrichment, and skill-building in a structured, positive environment that promotes academic growth, social development, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging hands-on lessons aligned with grade-level standards and program goals.
- Provide instruction in assigned subject area(s): Reading, Math, History, Science, or Teen Center programming.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate hands-on activities, discussions, and project-based learning.
- Chaperone field trips (as needed)
Classroom & Program Management
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
- Implement positive behavior management strategies.
- Supervise students during instructional periods and transitions.
Assessment & Documentation
- Monitor student progress and participation.
- Complete required lesson plans, attendance, and program documentation.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and evaluations.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, program staff, and leadership.
- Communicate student progress or concerns to program leadership.
- Support field trips, special events, and enrichment activities.
Required Qualifications
- Valid teaching certification (Alabama)
- Experience teaching school-age children or adolescents
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced summer program environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in summer enrichment or after-school programs
- Experience working with at-risk or underserved youth
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive teaching practices
Compensation
- $30 per hour
- June 1st-July 10th
