Accountant
Location: Near Kingston, NY
Salary: Up to $80,000
Type: Full-Time | Temporary | Onsite
Position Overview
Our well-established client is seeking an experienced Accountant to provide immediate support to a small, collaborative finance team. This role is critical to ensuring continuity during a period of increased workload and will play a key part in month-end close, compliance, and core accounting functions.
Working closely with the Controller and Staff Accountant, the Accountant will handle higher-level accounting activities while remaining flexible and hands-on in a dynamic, non-routine environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and support the month-end close process
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
- Ensure strict adherence to established accounting policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with shared services teams responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Support audits, internal controls, and documentation requirements
- Assist with financial analysis and reporting as needed
- Step in to support various accounting functions based on shifting priorities
- Work closely with cross-functional teams across the organization
Qualifications
- Strong accounting background with experience supporting month-end close
- Advanced Excel skills required, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Experience with ERP systems preferred; Oracle experience a plus but not required
- High attention to detail with a strong compliance mindset
- Flexible, adaptable approach to work in a changing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to manage multiple priorities without a highly repetitive daily routine
