Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage key accounting functions across multiple entities. This role requires expertise in managing accounts payable, vendor management, bank reconciliations, and project accounting in a construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable across multiple entities with accurate job and cost code allocation.
- Match invoices to purchase orders, subcontracts, and delivery tickets.
- Implement effective processes to streamline accounts payable and vendor management.
- Track subcontractor compliance, including Certificates of Insurance, W-9s, and NAVSEA requirements when applicable.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Execute weekly check and ACH payment runs.
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations for multiple accounts.
- Track credit card expenses and reconcile deposits, EFTs, credit card charges, and intercompany transfers.
- Prepare journal entries for accruals, prepaids, intercompany charges, and adjustments.
- Support month-end closing processes across all entities.
- Tie job costs to the general ledger and assist with Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
- Assist in building monthly financial packets for leadership review.
- Monitor job costs, committed costs, and variances.
- Assist project managers with job reports, budgets, and coding corrections.
- Ensure job cost accuracy for cost-plus billing models.
- Reconcile job cost, general ledger, and committed cost data monthly.
- Track intercompany expenses, allocations, and repayments.
- Support consolidated financial reporting.
- Maintain cross-entity consistency in job cost codes, general ledger mapping, and accounting processes.
- Utilize Sage 100 Contractor daily for accounts payable, job costing, general ledger, and cash management.
- Assist in documenting and improving accounting workflows.
- Support internal controls related to government compliance and cost-plus billing.
Essential Skills
- 5 years of experience in construction accounting.
- 2 years of experience with Sage 100 Contractor.
- Proficient in bookkeeping, project accounting, and accounts payable.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing.
- Experience with bank reconciliation and month-end processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of Cost Plus Accounting and compliance with overhead and cost allocations.
- Experience in systems and process improvement.
- Ability to work independently with light training.
- Experience with UKG payroll system for job costing information.
Work Environment
The position offers flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, followed by an 8-hour workday. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, utilizing Sage 100 Contractor and UKG systems. The company has grown rapidly and has multiple active projects, providing a collaborative and challenging work setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of National City, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $39.00/hr.
