Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is located on the serene island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands and is a family-owned and managed beach resort nestled in a beautiful sandy bay along the Caribbean Sea. The purpose of the Beach & Activities Supervisor is to create and maintain a safe, fun, clean, well maintained and an approachable beach atmosphere with a professional and friendly attitude. Deliver a product that increases the guest experience level daily.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and train activities staff, ensuring excellent guest service and engagement.
- Ensure the safety of all swimmers & guests using the beach resort facilities.
- Ensure that the pool water line & entire area is clean in am & pm. (Clean chairs, tables etc.) You will be asked to perform duties that require getting wet.
- Clean, straighten and fix all beach chairs on a daily/weekly basis as need be etc.
- Keep the “Beach Hut” clean and organized. All locks are maintained and in good working order.
- Make sure that the beach towels are stocked and returned to the laundry. Do not leave outside overnight.
- All Footbaths are to be cleaned and filled with water and a few drops of bleach every day in the am and pm. They should be free of sand when they are finished.
- Ensure that all beach toys i.e.; Sunfish, Kayaks, Aqua Cycles, Hobie Cats, Peddle boats, Paddle boards & Windsurfers etc. function, look good and run smoothly, report to engineering if necessary.
- Work with the purchasing department for all purchasing needs. Create purchase requests for approval by General Manager Etc.
- Ensure that all CPR certifications are kept up to date. (HR will assist)
- Maintain an accurate log of daily beach activities. (Remember all cash transactions except beach chairs are to be transacted from the retail store.)
- Start each day with a thorough inspection of the dingy, drain excess water, startup etc.
- Train new staff in all daily activities to include proper rescue techniques etc.
- Ensure that all beach attendants maintain a proper appearance regarding the resort uniform policy. Activities t-shirts, name tags, generic or logo hats and approved shorts.
- Maintain a well-stocked first aid kit, train beach attendants in proper hotel accident procedures including the proper way to fill out an accident form.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all the supplies needed and turn in reports.
- Assist the Activities Director with all poolside activities such as Bingo and kids holiday activities etc.
- Clean and rake seaweed as needed, including weddings and tent events. Remove rocks from the water’s edge to create an easier entry point for our guests. The entire beach is your responsibility.
- Maintain the Volleyball courts, Basketball & tennis courts.
- Snorkel and remove Sea Urchins that have come too close to shore. Place on the back side of the reef.
- Turn in daily forms with Beach Chair money, Keys and excess beach towel cards to the front desk at the end of the shift.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to know how to swim and don’t mind getting into the water
- First/Aid CPR Certification
- Must have a passion for conducting water activities
- Understanding safety guidelines and regulations for guests
