This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC mills and CNC lathes in a small, well-established manufacturing shop. You will perform multiple setups per day, work extensively with 4-axis turning, and contribute to efficient, high-quality production in a collaborative day-shift or second-shift environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC mills and CNC lathes multiple times per day, ensuring accurate tooling, workholding, and program loading.
- Work primarily with 4-axis turning equipment while also operating conventional CNC lathes and CNC mills as needed.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and machining drawings to produce parts to specification.
- Perform higher-level machining tasks and setups during daytime operations, following established processes and best practices.
- Run production on a variety of machines, including horizontal mills, Swiss lathes, and other CNC equipment in the shop.
- Measure and inspect parts using micrometers and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality.
- Use CMM equipment for inspection and dimensional verification; participate in training on CMMs if you do not have prior experience.
- Handle and move materials and parts, lifting up to 50 pounds as needed in a safe and ergonomic manner.
- Collaborate with approximately 10 other manufacturing team members to maintain smooth workflow and meet production goals.
- Follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and care for machines and tools to ensure reliable operation.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience setting up CNC mills and CNC lathes, including performing multiple setups per day.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for machining operations.
- Proficiency with machine tools and CNC machining processes, including 4-axis turning.
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers for part inspection.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required by shop and production activities.
- Comfort working with a variety of CNC equipment in a small-shop environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts within specified tolerances.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Machine Tool Technology degree is ideal but not required; equivalent experience in CNC machining and setup is highly valued.
- Experience operating horizontal mills, Swiss lathes, and general CNC lathes and mills.
- Willingness to learn and train on CMM inspection equipment if not already experienced.
- Ability to work effectively on either day shift or second shift, depending on preference and business needs.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with a small group of manufacturing professionals.

Work Environment
You work in a smaller shop with roughly 10 machines and about 10 manufacturing employees, creating a collaborative and hands-on environment. The facility houses a variety of equipment, including CNC mills, CNC lathes, horizontal mills, and Swiss lathes, with most setups and higher-level machining performed during the day. The parts produced are not high-tolerance, which supports efficient production while still requiring quality workmanship. Day shift hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; an optional second shift runs Monday through Thursday, 4:15 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. The role involves standing, moving around the shop, and lifting up to 50 pounds, in a typical manufacturing attire environment suitable for working around machinery and tools.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr.
