We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for PhD-level biologists interested in contributing to the development and evaluation of advanced AI systems.
This role supports collaborations with leading AI teams focused on improving how conversational AI models reason about biological systems, experimental findings, and life sciences concepts across multiple levels of biological organization.
Experts will evaluate AI-generated responses related to biological topics, ensuring scientific accuracy, mechanistic reasoning, and clear explanations aligned with modern life sciences research.
Key Responsibilities
Write and refine prompts that guide AI model behavior in life sciences contexts
Evaluate AI-generated responses to biology-related questions for scientific accuracy and reasoning quality
Verify biological claims using domain expertise and authoritative public sources
Annotate responses by identifying strengths, inaccuracies, and conceptual gaps
Assess clarity, structure, and appropriateness of explanations for different audiences
Apply structured evaluation frameworks and benchmarking standards
Ensure responses align with expected scientific rigor and conversational guidelines
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates will have:
PhD in Biology or a closely related life sciences discipline
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Molecular & Cellular Biology
Organismal Physiology & Development
Microbiology, Immunology & Pathobiology
Ecology, Evolution & Environmental Biology
Additional qualities include:
Experience using large language models (LLMs)
Excellent scientific writing and explanation skills
Strong analytical reasoning and attention to detail
Ability to identify subtle conceptual or mechanistic errors in biological explanations
Nice-to-Have Experience
Experience with RLHF, model evaluation, or AI data annotation
Teaching or mentoring experience in life sciences
Familiarity with evaluation rubrics or structured review frameworks
Experience reviewing or editing scientific or academic writing

Identifying inaccuracies or weak mechanistic explanations in biology-related model outputs
Improving the rigor, clarity, and correctness of AI explanations
Producing consistent evaluation artifacts that strengthen model performance
Helping ensure AI systems provide reliable life sciences knowledge
