Teacher’s Aide / Teacher Assistant
Qualification: AA (Associate Degree) or equivalent credits
Experience: 2 years as a Teacher Assistant
Position Summary
A dedicated and supportive Teacher Assistant with two years’ experience providing classroom support to teachers and students in secondary settings. Holds an Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent tertiary credits. Demonstrates strong organisational skills, the ability to differentiate learning tasks, and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Support the classroom teacher in delivering planned lessons and learning activities.

Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce concepts and skills.

Assist students with additional learning needs under teacher direction.

Prepare classroom materials, resources and learning equipment.

Support literacy and numeracy development across Key Learning Areas.

Supervise students during class activities, excursions and playground duty as required.

Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the classroom teacher.

Maintain accurate records and assist with administrative tasks.

Promote positive behaviour using established school behaviour management strategies.

Contribute to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
Skills and Attributes

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build positive relationships with students aged 12–18.

Understanding of differentiation and inclusive education practices.

Ability to follow teacher direction and work collaboratively within a team.

Sound organisational and time-management skills.

Familiarity with classroom technology and digital learning tools.

Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
Professional Knowledge

Understanding of classroom behaviour management strategies.

Awareness of confidentiality and child protection requirements.

Knowledge of supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Basic understanding of curriculum content in literacy and numeracy.
