Performs specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions.
Job Requirements
Bachelor Degree in science related field
Successful completion of a 12-month CAHEA accredited Cytotechnology Program
Current certification or registration by ASCP or equivalent agency
Current and valid State of Hawaii license
Computer literate in applications such as LIS, Network, Excel, Word and Outlook
Strong problem-solving and decision making skills required
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent English communication (verbal and written) skills, including by telephone
Schedule Information
May be asked to work occasional irregular or extended hours
Unit Specific Information
Maintains certification through successful renewal by the ASCP BOC, if applicable
Performs daily maintenance of microscope and cleans workplace
Keeps abreast of all regulations governing cytology screening, safety and compliance
