Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior-Level Highway / Bridge Inspector with 1-5 years of experience to join our team. This person should be detail-oriented and safety-conscious to support the inspection and monitoring of bridge construction and rehabilitation projects. This role involves working closely with senior inspectors and engineers to ensure that bridge structures are built in accordance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, has a basic understanding of construction practices, and is comfortable working in outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the inspection of job sites for compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety regulations and project timelines.
  • Document daily construction activities, including progress, issues, and weather conditions.
  • Take measurements and collect samples for testing as needed.
  • Report discrepancies or potential issues to senior inspectors or project managers.
  • Maintain accurate and organized inspection records and logs.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Learn and apply relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Assist in inspecting bridge construction sites, including foundations, piers, abutments, decks, and superstructures.
  • Take measurements and collect material samples for testing (e.g., concrete, steel).

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in construction, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (training provided).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
  • 18 years of age or older.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

  • Internship or prior experience in bridge or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., OSHA, DOT).
  • Knowledge of inspection tools and equipment (e.g., measuring tapes, levels, cameras).
  • Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces (with proper training and PPE).
