CNC Programmer – Aerospace NPI
Made in America Manufacturing is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our rapidly growing aerospace team. This is a high-impact role focused on New Product Introduction (NPI) — taking complex aerospace parts from print to production with precision, efficiency, and repeatability.
Responsibilities
Programming Leadership
- Develop, prove out, and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis mills (HAAS experience required).
- Write, edit, and validate G-code and CAM toolpaths (Mastercam/Bobcad).
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, GD&T, and tight tolerance requirements.
- Own first article programming for NPI projects, including AS9102/FAI documentation
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Lead machining strategy development for prototype and first-run builds.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and quality to ensure manufacturability and efficiency.
- Create process documentation, setup sheets, and fixture/tooling requirements.
- Drive smooth handoff of programs into full production.
Process Optimization
- Standardize programming methods, tool libraries, and best practices across the shop.
- Recommend and implement cycle time, tool life, and quality improvements.
- Support continuous improvement, lean practices, and lights-out manufacturing initiatives.
Shop Floor Collaboration
- Work with machinists on setups, fixturing, and process validation.
- Train and mentor CNC machinists/programmers to elevate team capability.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections during program prove-outs.
Requirements
- 7+ years CNC machining/programming experience (aerospace preferred).
- Proficiency in multi-axis (3/4/5-axis) programming and G-Code.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances) and aerospace quality standards.
- Demonstrated success in NPI or prototype-to-production transition.
- Ability to design fixtures, plan tooling, and lead setups independently.
- Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision and tight deadlines.
