Job Title: Production Operator

Job Description

The Production Operator sets up, operates, and troubleshoots blow molding machines and related production lines to manufacture high-quality plastic bottles and containers. This role focuses on maintaining consistent product quality, optimizing machine performance, and supporting smooth, efficient production operations while collaborating closely with maintenance, quality, and production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Operate blow molding machines and associated production lines safely and efficiently.
  • Perform machine start-ups, changeovers, and shutdowns in accordance with established procedures.
  • Adjust machine settings such as temperature, air pressure, and timing to maintain product quality and meet production specifications.
  • Monitor the quality of bottles and containers throughout the production run and make process corrections as needed.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Support overall production efficiency by identifying issues quickly and implementing corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance, quality, and production teams to coordinate repairs, quality checks, and process improvements.
  • Create basic standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting guides, and training materials to support consistent operations.
  • Provide remote or onsite support to other facilities when needed to assist with production or troubleshooting.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience operating production or machine equipment, ideally in a blow molding or plastics environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across machines and automation systems, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical components.
  • Experience working with high-speed production equipment and maintaining performance under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret machine screens, understand process parameters, and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent product quality.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with maintenance, quality, and production teams.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Basic computer or interface navigation skills to document processes and create simple SOPs or guides.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a Production Operator, Machine Operator, or General Production Worker in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in blow molding operations or working with plastic products.
  • Ability to create clear and concise troubleshooting guides and training materials.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are preferred.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Work Environment

This role follows a daytime schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering predictable hours and work-life balance. The position is based in a manufacturing facility with high-speed production equipment and blow molding machinery for plastic bottles and containers. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the safety attire, and team members are expected to follow all plant safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
