Thompson Staffing is looking for an Early Childhood Director that oversees the administration, curriculum, faculty and parent communications of a Jewish synagogue and community center. Candidate will be responsible for the following:
Administration
· Ensure the security and safety of all students and staff. Establish emergency procedures and emergency communication protocols for all urgent situations, including: medical, staffing, environmental and all safety occurrences. Practice emergency procedures for fire emergency and emergency lock down drills with staff and students if age appropriate. Plan and implement a safety procedure for safe and orderly drop-off and pick-up.
· Plan yearly, monthly, and weekly schedules for classes and activities.
· Identify and request building space and equipment needs including maintenance issues
· Coordinate special programs.
· Maintain communication with Rabbi, temple staff, students and parents, teachers, through meetings, phone calls, memos, letters, emails, and newsletter articles.
· Carry out registration process with assistance from office staff. Oversee the yearly enrollment packets
· Maintain and monitor all records that pertain to school administration including: staff employment records and files, registration, attendance, directories, health records, and student information forms.
· Develop annual school calendar
· Order resource materials and supplies
Establish and review school policies
· Arrange for supplies, custodial care, maintenance, repairs, and special facility needs.
Manage and replace equipment as needed
Educational Leadership
· Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive curriculum for all age levels.
Guide the development and preparation of materials for weekly lessons for each age level.
· Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing educational programs.
· Develop and implement special educational programs.
· Act as a resource for teachers
· Publicize and promote ECC programs
· Be active in professional organizations as budget permits
· Facilitate communication between parents and teachers.
· Plan, coordinate, and implement staff development.
· Participate in professional development opportunities.
· Keep up on new developments in early childhood education
Faculty Management
· Daily hands-on leadership and support of faculty
· Recruit, hire and retain qualified faculty.
· Regularly observe and evaluate each teacher’s performance in a written and oral assessment.
· Supervise performance and behavioral conduct of all teachers.
· Document in writing all performance reviews
· Collaborate with teachers to arrange for substitute help as needed
· Prepare for and conduct regular teacher meetings.
· Plan and implement in-service training programs.
· Guide the faculty in preparing daily, weekly, and yearly lesson plans as needed.
· Nurture collaborative professional relationships among faculty.
· Mentor each individual teacher's professional growth and development.
· Ensure maintenance of accurate classroom/student records.
· Prepare and regularly update Teacher Handbook.
· Maintain personnel records according to synagogue procedures.
Curriculum Development, Implementation and Evaluation
· Define educational goals.
· Develop/enhance early childcare program to meet established educational goals, including Jewish content and tradition through physical space and curriculum design.
· Supervise the implementation of the curriculum and training of the faculty on the goals and pedagogy.
· Maintain a strong Jewish atmosphere within the overall school and individual classroom settings.
· Implement a program for evaluating the children's social, developmental, and academic progress.
· Maintain communication with local private and public elementary schools in order to determine appropriate curriculum needed for the successful matriculation of our students into these schools.
· Consult with Rabbi for Jewish content in curriculum and programs
· Enrollment, Parent Orientation and Communication
· Meet with the parents of prospective students and conduct tours.
Assist with smooth transition for both children and parents from preschool to religious school.
· Orient new parents to school policies and programs.
· Maintain strong relationships and open communication with all parents.
· Plan and implement a program of parent education.
· Supervise and follow-up with parent conferences as necessary.
· Prepare and regularly update the Parent Handbook. Knowing children personally and monitoring individual progress
Greet parents and children each morning.
Build and Nurture Synagogue and Community Relationships
· Establish and maintain contact with parents.
· Establish and maintain contact with community Jewish organizations.
· Interact with state and national Jewish educational organizations.
· Welcome visitors.
· Be available to synagogue families for certain events that pertain to early childhood and family life.
· Attend/participate in professional conferences, lectures and other educational events as budget permits.
· Maintain a high profile at appropriate synagogue events; help to integrate families into synagogue life.
