POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Food server at the YMCA of York and York County maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Know and comply with all Department of Public Welfare Child Care regulations
  2. Know and comply with all Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) regulations
  3. Know and comply with all City Health Department inspection regulations/policies
  4. Complete all required components of the CACFP and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) requirements

-Maintain daily menu forms

-Manage meal count forms

  1. Prepare meals (breakfast, lunch, snack) according to planned menus
  2. Serve meals for CACFP and SFSP programs through out the city of York.
  3. Oversee and direct part-time assistant cook with meal preparation, set-up, and cleaning of lunch room and dishes
  4. Clean kitchen and equipment/appliances daily
  5. Maintain clean, healthy and sanitary practices in keeping with the Department of City Health
  6. Practice proper hand washing procedures
  7. Distribute food accordingly for various sites/locations; arrange for off-site delivery
  8. Know fire and emergency procedures; Be prepared in an emergency situation
  9. Know and follow established center policies and procedures
  10. Maintain a positive attitude toward children, their families, and staff
  11. Provide and prepare meals for other YMCA functions within the meal service policy (Committee meetings, Y' Men, etc.)
  12. Attend all CACFP and SFSP, City Health and YMCA required training
  13. Attend staff meetings
  14. All other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School Diploma or general educational development certificate (GED)
  • A minimum of 1 year food preparation experience
  • Experience working with a diverse population

Obtain Criminal background check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
