We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Outpatient Rehabilitation team on a per diem basis. If you are passionate about helping patients achieve their highest level of communication, swallowing, and cognitive function while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, we'd love to hear from you.
Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides high-quality speech therapy evaluations, treatments, and documentation for outpatient rehabilitation clients. This role functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team while delivering exceptional customer service and patient-centered care.
Schedule: Per Diem
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide speech therapy services in a professional manner using evidence-based and approved methods of practice.
- Perform evaluations, assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients experiencing dysfunction due to injury, surgery, or acute and chronic disease.
- Educate patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals on treatment strategies and procedures to promote maximum function and safety.
- Complete documentation and assigned responsibilities accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling to meet departmental and patient care needs.
- Accurately document daily billable treatment time in accordance with Rehabilitation Department procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings, facility in-services, and continuing education opportunities.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
- Successfully complete all required Core Competencies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Education
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a long-term care or acute care setting.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Connecticut Speech-Language Pathologist license.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the national board of certification in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate current knowledge of speech-language pathology practices and rehabilitation techniques.
- Execute departmental policies and procedures with professionalism and integrity.
- Safely implement prescribed speech therapy equipment and treatment procedures.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
- Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards.
- Work compassionately and effectively with individuals who are ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, or occasionally challenging.
