Provide advanced emergency nursing care in a dynamic community hospital setting focused on both adult and pediatric patients. This role demands expertise in acute clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a fast-paced emergency department. The position is based in Kansas City, MO, offering an opportunity to work within a STEMI and stroke-certified facility known for comprehensive cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Emergency Room settings; first-timers not accepted
  • BLS, NIHSS, ACLS, and PALSS certifications required
  • Skilled in pediatric emergency care including conditions such as asthma, seizures, and sickle cell crisis
  • Proficient in psychiatric patient management including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior control
  • Expertise in IV therapy and phlebotomy including arterial line and central line care
  • Respiratory care knowledge including intubation, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with neurological emergencies, specifically stroke (CVA)
  • Competence in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, including 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Familiarity with isolation precautions, triage protocols, and orthopedic splint application
  • Ability to float within metro emergency departments to meet operational needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient-centered emergency care in a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio environment
  • Administer emergency medications, continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
  • Participate in regular weekend shifts (every third weekend) and float between metro emergency units as required
  • Use EPIC for comprehensive and accurate electronic charting
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes within a 240-bed facility

Shift details include mid-shifts (14:45 - 03:15) on a 6-week schedule with coverage of 8 weekend shifts per period. Staff wear navy scrubs to maintain a professional and consistent appearance.
