Accountant (Construction & Development)

We’re hiring a Senior Project Accountant (Construction & Development FP&A) to own financial modeling, KPI reporting, budgeting/forecasting, job cost/WIP, and construction loan draws across active development projects. In this high-visibility, hands-on role, you’ll partner with Development, Operations, and Banking to deliver clear management reporting and drive profitability. You’ll leverage Sage 300 (Timberline) and advanced Excel to turn data into decisions and help scale a best-in-class project accounting function.

High-visibility, hands-on role supporting construction/overhead departments and investment partnership entities. You’ll own financial models, KPIs, budgeting/forecasting, construction loan draws, and management reporting, partnering tightly with Development, Operations, and Banking to drive profitability and decision-making.

What You’ll Do:

  • Financial modeling & profitability: Build models to assess pricing, costs, margins, ROI for development projects.
  • KPI & expense management (Sage 300): Track daily/weekly/monthly KPIs; analyze variances; flag trends.
  • Budgeting & forecasting: Partner with Ops/Construction to build forecasts and manage spend; maintain P&L and balance sheet accuracy.
  • Construction loan draws: Coordinate bank draws; interpret loan documents, schedules, covenants, deliverables.
  • Management reporting: Produce dashboards, reports, and executive presentations for projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Invoice & coding support: Partner with operations to process invoices promptly with correct job cost coding.
  • Corporate FP&A support: Assist the Controller with budgeting, forecasting, investment/risk analysis, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Continuous improvement: Standardize departmental reporting, improve forecast accuracy, identify cost-savings via trend analysis.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (or related).
  • 5+ years relevant experience in large project development (construction/real estate).
  • Advanced Excel; strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability to learn new systems and work cross-functionally under deadlines.

Preferred

  • Sage 300 (Timberline) accounting experience.
  • Real estate development accounting (job cost, WIP, %-of-completion, retainage).
  • Solid foundation in GAAP, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Clear, concise communication with executives and field teams.
