Our client is hiring a Staff Accountant with hands-on experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and general accounting to support individual and business clients. This role is ideal for an accountant with public accounting experience who enjoys working across tax, bookkeeping, and compliance.
***Client is open to both contract and full-time employment***
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual (1040), corporate (1120), and partnership (1065) tax returns
- Perform general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and year-end close
- Manage monthly bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and account analysis
- Prepare and file sales tax returns (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting
- Handle IRS and New York State (NYS) notices and correspondence
- Support multiple clients while meeting tax and reporting deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a Staff Accountant, Tax Accountant, or Bookkeeper
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance, bookkeeping, and general accounting
- Experience working in public accounting or a multi-client environment
- Familiarity with sales tax, payroll tax, and government filings
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop)
- Familiarity with tax software (Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, CCH, or similar)
- Experience supporting small to mid-sized businesses
