Manager of Credit and Collections

The Manager of Credit and Collectionswill report and provide support to the finance department by managing customer credit risk and ensuring the timely collection of receivables. This role is responsible for evaluating customer creditworthiness, establishing credit limits, maintaining account performance, maintaining positive customer relationships, and making common sense credit decisions in alignment with company policies. The Manager of Credit and Collections plays a key role in balancing credit risk and business growth objectives. Business to business experience essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze credit applications, financial statements, and payment histories to evaluate customer creditworthiness.
  • Initiate background checks on all applicants including location, fleet size, and any special events or red flags as noted on the internet.
  • Recommend and establish appropriate credit limits, raising and lowering limits as necessary in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor existing customer accounts to identify potential risks or signs of financial distress.
  • Provide invoices, account statements and other information that the customer may request.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Billing and Maintenance teams to resolve billing issues and disputes.
  • Maintain accurate customer credit files and ensure compliance with company standards and internal controls.
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to credit exposure, delinquency, and accounts receivable aging.
  • Support the Credit Manager in refining credit policies and procedures to align with best practices.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of credit management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in credit analysis, accounts receivable, or financial operations. Demonstrated ability to assess risk, make sound credit decisions, and manage complex customer accounts.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; able to negotiate professionally with internal and external partners, and able to maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.

  • Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
  • Accounts receivable aging performance
  • Credit approval turnaround time
  • Bad debt write-offs as a percentage of total sales

Work Environment

· This position operates in a professional office environment as part of the Finance Department. This is a 100% on-site position at our company headquarters in Piscataway, NJ.
