Job DescriptionJob Summary – RN - MedSurg/Tele
- Facility Details:
- 241-bed hospital, Level 3 Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center in Shelby, NC.
- Unit Information:
- 24-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit with full census.
- Fast-paced, observation-focused environment.
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Patient Population:
- Cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and various other medical/surgical diagnoses.
- Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:5-6 (may increase to 1:7-8 during surges)
- CNA: 1:12
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Active RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.
- Skills Required:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone).
- General Med/Surg care: tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, wound care.
- Department Support:
- CNA, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT (24/7), charge nurse, hospitalist (on-site days, virtual nights), intensivist (24/7), remote telemetry monitoring.
- Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC (min. 6 months experience required).
- IV pumps: Alaris.
- Medication dispensing: Omnicell.
- Monitors: Massimo.
- Floating:
- Required within designated region (multiple facilities) as needed and within scope of practice.
- Paid for travel time if floating mid-shift.
- Orientation:
- Facility NEO and 2 days departmental orientation.
- Scheduling:
- Shifts: 0645-1915 or 1845-0715.
- Weekend rotation every other weekend.
- Potential low census call.
- Must work 75% of holidays; RTO up to 6 days (excluding holidays), with contract extension if needed.
- Other Information:
- Navy scrubs required.
