The Yard Loader Operator is responsible for efficient material loading and handling using heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, and excavators. This role ensures safety compliance, maintains equipment, and coordinates site activities to support smooth yard operations. Operators work standard 8-hour shifts with potential overtime and receive comprehensive on-the-job safety training and regular briefings.
Responsibilities
- Operate front-end loaders, forklifts, excavators, and other heavy equipment for material loading
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and participate in regular safety briefings
- Manage inventory and maintain accurate records of materials handled
- Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance
- Coordinate with site personnel to optimize workflow
- Secure loads properly to prevent damage or spillage during transport
- Handle waste materials responsibly and in accordance with site policies
- Maintain detailed records of operations and inspections
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Heavy Equipment Operator Certification
- Proficiency in forklift and loader operation
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures
- Basic maintenance skills
- Effective team collaboration and communication
- Good time management abilities
