Medical Historian/Scribe: Well established and busy private orthopedic, spine, and pain management practice in Santa Barbara has a full-time opening (Monday to Friday) for a medical historian/scribe.

Job Purpose:

Obtain initial patient information and assist providers in order to increase efficiency and report production of the provider they are working under.

Job Duties may include, but are not limited to:

· Interview patients and obtain medical history, job description, history of injury and treatment, present complaints, and social history.

· Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to enter patient data.

· Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.

· Electronically fax completed office visit note to various parties including insurance companies and attorneys.

· Edit medical reports, create proof of services, and otherwise assisting with the processing of outgoing reports

· Assist with other front and back office tasks

Skills and qualifications:

Applicant must have exceptional written and verbal skills and be proficient in typing and have excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills. The applicant must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining great attention to detail. The applicant must also be reliable and punctual, professional, and have a willingness to learn.

Pre-med students wanted . Excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience before attending medical school or physician assistant school. Work closely with physicians, bolster your CV, get paid well, and learn about the medical field. Get the clinical hours you need to apply to PA or med school, while receiving real-life training.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus as is experience with medical terminology.
