Position Summary
Echo technician creates 2-D and 3-D images of patients hearts though use of high frequency sound waves and special equipment .As well as performing vascular exams at the doctor’s order.
The echocardiography technician (hereafter referred to as the ECHO technician) is also responsible for assisting the cardiologist interpret the data from the images.
Essential Duties & Responsibilites
- Must be willing to participate in venous ablation studies.
- In times of low patient volume help in other areas in the facility
- Responsible for keeping work area stocked and neat for next work shift
- Must be willing to fluctuate schedule to accommodate patient flow
- Ensure patient safety at all times
- Must respect patients privacy rights and comply with HIPPA
- Perform other duties as assigned
Safety/Infection Control
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and hospital policies and
- procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materials
- Complies with National Patient Safety Goals as they pertain to job responsibilities
Performance Improvement
- Participate in performance improvement activities as necessary
Customer Service
- Maintain confidentiality of patient related issues and adhering to all HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills
- Treat all patients, visitors, and staff members fairly and with respect

- Explain all procedures, treatments, and care while remaining aware of language barriers

- Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignments

Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Two year degree in diagnostic medical sonography
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer ARDMS
- Strong Medical Terminology
LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
