Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) degree, active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license, and 1+ years Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) position is available to support students with physical, developmental, and sensory needs in a school setting located in Naples, FL. This contract role involves working alongside a licensed Occupational Therapist to implement therapy programs that promote student independence and active participation within their educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist with therapeutic activities and interventions
- Help students develop fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and classroom participation
- Document therapy sessions, progress notes, and service logs accurately and timely
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, therapists, and school staff to support student outcomes
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions as needed
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning atmosphere
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant license or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Experience working effectively with children and adolescents with diverse needs
- Familiarity with school-based therapy practices and IEP procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and student support
