We are a growing manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations at our Neenah, WI headquarters. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position reporting directly to the President and overseeing key accounting personnel. The role offers the opportunity to play a strategic part in the financial health and operational success of the business while working closely with company leadership.

We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of accounting or finance experience and a strong background in financial reporting, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance. Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred, along with the ability to manage multiple accounting functions, supervise staff, and provide financial insights that support business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities across multiple business entities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain the integrity of financial records and reporting processes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, including supporting schedules and analysis.
  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, cash management, and related accounting functions.
  • Coordinate banking activities, cash reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Administer tax reporting requirements, including payroll taxes, sales and use taxes, personal property taxes, W-2s, 1099s, and other required filings.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure accurate, timely completion of departmental responsibilities.
  • Coordinate annual audits, insurance reviews, workers’ compensation audits, and other compliance-related reporting.
  • Partner with external auditors, CPA firms, banking institutions, and third-party financial service providers.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and business analysis initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in accounting software upgrades, ERP enhancements, and process improvement projects.
  • Provide financial support and reporting for strategic business initiatives and operational decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience with progressive responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes and preparing financial statements.
  • Proven leadership experience supervising accounting personnel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or a similar ERP system preferred.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work on-site and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
