You are the professional CDI QI Team Lead – Primary Care we are looking for. As part of the Coding and Documentation Integrity (CDI) team, you will be responsible for leading development of and administering training and education for CDI team members. You will also be responsible for auditing of medical record documentation in accordance with Meridian auditing specifications, in conjunction with regulatory billing standards/Meridian standards integral in the preservation and improvement of quality care. In addition, you will develop and administer training and education for primary care, dental and chiropractic documentation compliance integral for the preservation and improvement of quality care.

CDI QI Team Lead – Primary Care Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development and training of CDI staff to conduct primary care documentation training
- Lead development and training of CDI staff to conduct primary care documentation chart audits
- Oversee documentation training of all primary care staff
- Oversee chart audits of all primary care staff
- Identify training needs and opportunities for improvement for the training and auditing programs
- Lead development of training resources
- Provide coding training to CDI coders
- Assist with compliance to coding guidelines
- Serve as an expert resource for CMS and other payer source guidelines
- Complete daily/weekly/monthly/annual reports as applicable
- Create audit analysis and summary reports
- Assist with compilation of performance metrics
- Assist with the development and updating of documentation policies and procedures
- Identify areas for process improvement
- Identify trends, issues, and opportunities for the organization
Perform the essential functions of the CDI QI Auditor/Educator job description as needed, including:
- Auditing according to Meridian auditing specifications:
- All Staff behavioral health audits.
- Random auditing.
- Provider auditing.
- Behavioral health, primary care, and dental auditing.
- Requested focused audits.
- Provide audit feedback to providers, clinicians, and others as appropriate.
- Identifies training opportunities and new developments to be incorporated into the training program.
- Implement specific Meridian manager/supervisor requested training.
- Conducts concurrent training and refresher courses.
- Actively seeks to identify areas of needed improvement, developing professional-appearing training materials. Revises training materials as appropriate.
- Provide training in tandem with electronic health record (EHR) training personnel and other staff as required.
- Develops training resources and provides documentation training for new staff, initial and follow-up for:
Behavioral Health: Providers, therapists, behavioral clinicians
Primary Care: Providers, medical assistants, nurses
Dental: Providers, assistants
- Conducts HIM/CDI staff training as necessary and appropriate.
- Conducts annual additional staff trainings, lunch-and-learns, and other trainings as necessary. Implement specific Meridian manager/supervisor requested training.
- Completes daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reports as applicable.
- Assists with compilation of performance metrics.
- Assists with the development and revisions of departmental policies and procedures.
- Identifies areas for process improvement.
- Identifies trends, issues, and opportunities for organization.
- Will function in team environment with cross training to other roles.
- Other duties as assigned.
We are seeking CDI QI Team Lead – Primary Care candidates with the following qualities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or higher in related field of study, preferred
- Medical coding certification required or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire
- Ability to interpret code sets, including but not limited to ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and CDT.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in primary care related auditing, medical coding, and training in small and/or large group settings.
- Must have the ability to provide training sessions remotely via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other platforms as approved by Meridian MIS.
- Valid driver’s license, a driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance required
