A precision contract manufacturer in Orange, California is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Setup Operator to join its team. The company specializes in high-quality machining for aerospace, defense, medical, and commercial industries and operates under ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines (mills and lathes) with minimal supervision.

Install tooling, fixtures, clamps, and soft jaws for efficient setups.

Load, edit, and optimize CNC programs as required.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process specifications.

Perform in-process inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).

Monitor production runs and make necessary adjustments to tooling, offsets, speeds, and feeds.

Troubleshoot machine and program issues to maintain quality and productivity.

Train and mentor junior operators on proper machining practices.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of CNC machining and setup experience (mills and/or lathes).

Strong knowledge of tool selection, workholding, and fixture design.

Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.

Proficient with inspection tools and quality documentation.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high-mix, fast-paced environment.

Team-oriented with good communication skills.
