POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth Civic Learning Coordinator advances LWV’s mission by supporting initiatives that empower young people with civic knowledge, skills, and opportunities for engagement. This role focuses on developing and implementing high-quality civic education tools, training programs, and partnerships that prioritize equity and inclusion, particularly for historically marginalized communities. The Coordinator collaborates with state and local Leagues, external partners, and internal teams to deliver impactful programming and resources that strengthen youth civic participation nationwide.
This position reports to the Program Manager, Voter Engagement.
Note: This position is grant-funded, with the grant renewable in October 2027.
The annual salary for this position is $65,000.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Curriculum & Resource Development:
Design and update K–12 civic education curricula, training materials, and resources for state and local Leagues, ensuring accessibility and cultural relevance.
· Training & Capacity Building:
Develop and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions to support League adoption and effective use of youth civic learning tools.
· Partnership Engagement:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with organizations serving youth and advancing civic education; identify opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing.
· Program Implementation & Evaluation:
Support the execution of civic engagement activities, monitor progress, and maintain accurate documentation to measure impact.
· Research & Analysis:
Conduct research to inform program strategies, resource development, and emerging trends in youth civic engagement.
· Grant & Contract Support:
Assist with contracting processes for Leagues participating in youth civic education grants; ensure compliance and timely reporting.
· Communications & Reporting:
Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and status reports for internal stakeholders and external partners.
· Technology & Administrative Support:
Provide technical assistance for webinars, digital tools, and platforms; troubleshoot issues for staff and League partners.
· Equity & Inclusion:
Apply a racial equity lens to all activities, ensuring programs are inclusive and responsive to diverse communities.
· Other Duties:
Participate in organizational events, including quarterly All-Staff meetings, LWV Council, and LWV Convention; travel as required.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
· 2–5 years of experience in civic education, curriculum development, or youth engagement.
· Experience in nonprofit or grassroots organizing preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail; ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
· Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365; familiarity with Salesforce, Engaging Networks, Zoom, OutreachCircle, and website content management systems preferred.
· Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to respectful, tactful, and inclusive communication; ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
· Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles; ability to apply a racial equity lens to program design and implementation.
· Deep understanding of and willingness to advance LWV’s mission to empower voters and defend democracy; passion for engaging youth and supporting communities of color in building civic power.
· Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and organizational needs; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Ability to travel occasionally for organizational meetings, events, and trainings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery. The person must also be available to travel to / for purposes of supporting movement building activities and walking longer distances to offices and events. Constantly operates a laptop/computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
