This position is Monday-Friday hours and includes no nights, weekends, or holidays!

Hours:
Monday and Friday from 6:30a-4p
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30a-10a and 1p-4p
*will include 2 straight shifts and 3 days of split shift. Possibility to rotate dates with the right candidate.

Rate of Pay: 18.00 per hour, 18.25 when DOT certified

Position Summary:
The Bus Aide provides essential transportation assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities by riding along in agency vehicles. This role ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers during transit and serves as a backup driver when needed. The Bus Aide plays a key role in maintaining a secure and supportive environment throughout the transportation process. This position serves as a back-up driver (DOT Certification) when the driver is out.

Responsibilities:

  • Ride along in agency vehicles to assist passengers with developmental disabilities during transport.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers by monitoring behavior and intervening when necessary.
  • Assist with loading and unloading passengers, including those using mobility devices.
  • Secure wheelchairs and other mobility equipment using proper safety restraints.
  • Maintain a calm and supportive presence, especially during behavioral or emergency situations.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, staff, and passengers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip safety checks as needed.
  • Report any incidents, concerns, or vehicle issues to the supervisor
  • Follow all agency policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Serve as a backup driver when the primary driver is unavailable (requires valid drivers license and training).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record (required for backup driver duties).
  • Current DOT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to lift and assist passengers as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, reliability, and a commitment to safety and dignity.
